   Victoria chosen for Toyota Camry Hybrid manufacture

 

In an Australian first, Toyota will produce 10,000 Camry Hybrid vehicles per year at its Altona plant just west of Melbourne from 2010 - a move set to strengthen Victoria’s global competitiveness in the automotive industry.

Melbourne’s reputation as the shopping capital of Australia was again confirmed with US retail giant Costco, announcing it will open its first Australian store at Waterfront City in Docklands.

The development rights for the Bald Hills Wind Farm have been acquired by Mitsui & Co (Australia) representing a significant boost to the wind farm project to be located near Wonthaggi, east of Melbourne.

More breakthroughs in life-threatening diseases will be possible with Victoria to be home to the world's largest life sciences supercomputer, confirming Victoria’s position as a global leader in biomedical and scientific research.
